Trail Riding in the Big Horn Mountains - Pt. 4

I took over a thousand pictures during our week in the Big Horns.  It is hard to pick out just a few to share with you.  I just wanted to give you a flavor of what it is like.  As I said, it was a dream vacation and should be on every rider's bucket list.

What I didn't mention in the other posts were the wildlife.  Look for elk, coyotes, deer, wolves and watch for fish in the streams!

Bring jackets and coats!  We were there the first of August and ran the furnace in our trailer every night.  We played "guess the temperature" around the campfire and it was dipping down into the 40's overnight.  I blanketed my horses overnight just because...

Enjoy the pictures & enjoy your trip!

Trail Riding in the Big Horn Mountains - Pt. 3

I don't want to do a disservice to the other trails we rode.  They were just as beautiful in their own right.  The following pictures were taken high above Lake Solitude.  The views were breathtaking.  Wear a coat; you are a high elevation and it is chilly up there.  But worth the trip.

Not to be overshadowed by Lake Solitude, The Crevices will provide some of the best views of the mountain range.  Follow the sagebrush over toward the mountains and pick up what looks like a goat trail going up.  Tie your horses at the top and start exploring!

Yes, there is a cell signal up here!  The texts started beeping!

It is hard to see how high you are until you see the size of the trees below.

See the riders below?  Their horse started colicking up on the mountain.  They are walking it back to camp.

Just looking through these pictures .... I am so ready to go back!
