There are lots of things happening… First off, its Horse Expo week! Yeah! Starting tomorrow our volunteer staff start moving in vendors and equipment to be ready for the big spring event. Besides working Expo, I am taking Butter this year. She will work with Craig Cameron in his "problem horse" demo. Poor Butter. Poor Craig. But the rest of the time, I'll be walking the floors of Expo making sure my schedule stays on track and answering questions and directing people to venues and kissing horses' noses.
It's also a milestone birthday this week. But hey, it's only a number. I told a good friend recently that if the second half of my life is as good as he first half, bring it on! I used to say that I didn't feel a day over 28. Well, the kids have aged me; now I don't feel a day over 32. Horses keep me young.
So heading into my “golden years”, I will keep this thought in mind (crediting Jane Savoie):
Somewhere behind the rider I've become,
The trainers who pushed me,
The people who believed in me,
The long hours of schooling,
The falls I've taken,
The ribbons I didn't win,
The tears and broken bones,
And the horses I've given my heart to,
Is the little girl who fell in love with the sport
And never looked back.
I Ride for her!
A Gift for You
Just in time for my birthday, I was contacted by CSN Stores to provide a giveaway to my readers. Is that great timing or what? I have surfed through their online store and sure wish I would have found them when I did my home makeover last year; I found flat panel TV stands which would look great in our living room. CSN Stores have offered to provide me with a $40 gift certificate to award any one of my readers. They have a ton of merchandise for you to choose from; I am sure the winner will find something to enjoy.

ReplyDeleteWell, I found your blog through your website, I guess (that and the fact that I hang out with you! lol). And I think I just happened across your website years ago, as I was learning to google for horse related places.
ReplyDeleteAnd happy birthday, BTW!
I found you by googling horse trail riding blogs. I'm a trailrider from Kansas so I've been thrilled to read your blog.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday, in case I'm too scatter-brained to remember to tell you this weekend. I follow your blog because of Horsetales. Thanks for all the work you do with NHC and Expo, and for starting HT. Amazing how many people you've connected.
ReplyDeleteI remember you telling me you were going to create a blog. I also know which b-day it is and you still don't look a day over 32.
ReplyDeleteMay your life and blog just keep on getting better.
Happy Birthday! Kathy Newberg told me about Horsetales first, and then I followed to your blog from that (was it the chicken before the egg? It's hard to remember!). I love your writing and pictures. Looking forward to another great Expo! SP
ReplyDeleteI knew you pre-blog days!! It's been fun watching our boys grow up and watching us "grow up". Here's to many, many more years.
ReplyDeleteI honestly can't remember! But, I think it was through Lisa at Laughing Orca Ranch, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great time at the Expo. I'd love to see him work with Butter- not that she's so bad- but it's a horse I know. Way cool!
I found you from a link on somebody's blog but I cannot for the life of me remember who! I'm really glad that I did and I hope you come ride in a CTR in Alaska.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
from the chat group ages ago! and trail riding together. I also know what birthday it is, so Happy New Decade! lol
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday on Thursday!
I believe you were commenting on my blog, and I always click on a new name just to see who it is and go check out their blog. That is how I found you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Hope you have a great one!
I think I was one of your first readers. Shortly after we became friends and HT friends too. I don't remember exactly how I found it, I'm guessing you told me about it. I do enjoy it though.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for so long, I really don't remember. I think you may have visited me first?
ReplyDeleteThat photo of Bella makes her look like she's not so crazy about the idea of being the star of the problem horse demo. lol!
But the photo also makes her look like she could sure use it, too. :D
The Horse Expo sounds like great fun. Happy Birthday to you!
~Lisa
I found your blog through someone elses blog roll, its been so long now I dont remember who!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI was interested in reading about your trail riding, your title caught my eye.
Well I don't exactly remember how I found the blog, I'm going to bet it was either through Lisa at Laughing Orca Ranch or Val at Fantastyk Voyager.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday - I'm getting up there myself!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, don't remember when or how, but I am guessing it had something to do with the Wednesday night PRR. I read every one and check in daily.
ReplyDeleteI think I was horse shopping for equines in the area and your blog popped up. I'm so glad it did!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I think I found your blog through Laughing Orca Ranch....looks like she sent you a lot of business! I am a trail rider from Missouri.
ReplyDeleteI found you through the NE Horse Council website when looking for a place to post about a 4-H event. I have become almost a daily visitor to your blog. I love it!!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog because of horsetales! Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteTammy,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog from Nuzzling Muzzles blog. It's great! Come read my blog someday; it's about me and my first, wonderful horse named Buckshot (athousandpoundsoffragilehorse.blogspot.com). I hope I win your contest! Thanks for offering it!
Happy birthday Tammy!
ReplyDeleteIt's been so long I can't remember how I found you. I was still in Memphis, I think. I have early-onset CRS so that's my excuse ;)
Happy Birthday Tammy! Have a wonderful birthday and you're right to not worry about numbers. It's all in how you feel. Like the Jane Savoie sentiments very much.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember how I found you I must have clicked on you from another blog or maybe you left me a comment. Doesn't matter just glad I found you at all. Have a great birthday!
Hi Tammy,
ReplyDeleteI've been following you through Horsetales for (OMG) about 6 years now I think. Can't remember how many Expo's I've been to, but I know I volunteered for a while at at least one, and worked for a vendor at another two, possibly three...
Hopefully at some point here I can stop living vicariously through all of you guys and get some riding in there myself.
Happy Birthday. Revel in your milestone year and live it for all its worth.
Oh yeah, enter me in the drawing. (sneaks away sheepishly)
I found your blog by clicking on it from your website. I love reading them and I enjoy visiting the website often.
ReplyDeleteHi Tammy!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through the web site. My horse was listed for sale on there and I had to go look at his picture before I met him in person. BTW, I love your blog and read it daily. Happy Birthday!
Ronna
Happy Birthday!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFirstly ~
ReplyDeleteHAPPIER THAN HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY!
Ha! Can't say I've said THAT to anyone before...yet, I mean it!
We two are joining the (is it AARP?) ranks of the " fittest, finest fastest horsewoman's club"! Me too..this summer!
EXPO COMETH...yea! Very cool for you and Butter! He's a nice sort, seen him here times past, at expos. Sometimes I do wonder, with the new and"male" leader, that the mares take notice more.?. Mine was in a clinic 2 years ago, with a dude. He was fair, and she was the most attentive ever! Though, at our Expo, Jane Goodnight really had this pushy Appy looking like a halter class winner too.
I'm really excited to see more, have someone video (small clips) and post them!
Make sure top gp to the "ANSUR" SADDLERY site. Carole will be there, say "hi from Kacy, the one that cried, ordering my Konklusion". Julie, my stable mate did ALL her videos on the web.
Ummmm......I'm pretty sure YOU found me, after rea ding about my Wa, likened her to your Windy mare. Worth
some investigating!
Have a blast at HorseExpo Za!!
Is Jane Savoy, that awesome motivator, going to be there?
She is at ours. "Motivation from Moshi" getting sent to my email weekly, hads been a God send. She gifted, and down to earth!
I found you through a Google search for horse blogs.
ReplyDeleteaubreyfick@yahoo.com
well, lets see....I first found your blog through horsetrailriders. Way back when I was coordinating equine program sin Nebraska and was looking for a new horse for the camp. And, then I posted the AAHS clinic on your upcoming events on horsetrailriders. And then I just wanted to keep following your blog. And, of course, you keep posting about it on horsetales, so i come back to read it. LOVE the updates on the big bay mare. :) She's always been my favorite out of your herd! (duh!)
ReplyDeleteI found you through a random google search.
ReplyDeletelovelydomesticdiva (at) gmail (dot) com
To be quite honest I have no idea as to how I stumbled across your blog. I have so many blogs in my favorites. And I'm so addicted to reading blogs (must be horsey blogs) that when I run out, I just start visiting the blog lists of those blogs. So basically I found your blog through someone else's blog but I couldn't tell you who!...Looking at YOUR blog list I do read almost all of those too!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I don't know how I found your blog, but knowing me it was probably through a link from another blog!
ReplyDeleteeemoody77 at gmail dot com
Geez, Tammy, I have no idea. It's beena while so I don't rememer specifically if you found me first or I found you first. Whichever way it was, it must have been a comment somewhere. LOL
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great birthday and I love the poem. Suits me to a tee.
Mandatory Entry: I found you through another blog! cool giveaway! thank you

I have two hours left. It's still Sunday! I found your blog from another blog. I liked the name and decided to check it out. Glad I did.
ReplyDeleteOh, so Butter is going to be working with Craig Cameron! You are so lucky! He is awesome! I CANNOT wait to hear what happens!
