Oh boy, is this ever true. I once boarded at a facility where the owner thought he was a trainer because he had a few lessons and he actually told me he watched a lot of videos. He even had his niece giving kids lessons and she had no riding experience. They were idiots and accidents waiting to happen. Which did on a regular basis. I never saw such dangerous behavior anywhere else I went. My favorite was when he would canter the horse through the aisle on his way out the doors. Or drive the truck through. We didn't stay long. I should add he always had boarders (who were beginners) because the place was brand new with lots of grazing. What stories I could tell from my short time there. As you say it's sad this video is a reality for some.
that's right on the nose :-\ i've dealt with so many people just like that, but my favorite was a border i had once who had bred and old mare she rescued, mishandled and spoiled the foals for years in her backyard and then brought them to me to be trained. but of course i wasn't allowed to handle them - she wanted all of the training done via some kind of mystical mind-meld she read about in some book... i tried to explain the real world to her, but she just didn't get it. what a nightmare!
Freaky! Their voices, lacking any emotion, is just so weird and robotic. However did you find this video? Good message, though. There are a lot of folks who start out thinking very similarly as that guy and somehow shimmy through horse ownership unscathed.
And there are some that try to do everything right but still end up in the hospital.
